The highlight of this trip to Kanchanaburi, Thailand, was staying at The FloatHouse River Kwai Resort (Thai: โฟลทเฮ้าส์ ริเวอร์เเคว รีสอร์ท กาญจนบุรี). The millionaire fell in love with the hotel the moment he saw it on Google Maps.
About The FloatHouse River Kwai Resort
The FloatHouse River Kwai Resort is part of the SERENATA Hotels & Resorts group, a renowned Thai hotel group. Most impressive is its numerous floating resorts on the River Kwai in Kanchanaburi, including River Kwai Jungle Rafts, The FloatHouse River Kwai Resort, River Kwai Resotel, Home Phutoey River Kwai Resort, and Hintok River Camp. The FloatHouse River Kwai Resort has been ranked among the world's top 10 floating hotels and is truly unique. A wealthy man fell in love with it the moment he saw it, overcoming numerous obstacles and finally arriving. Honestly, it wasn't easy, but it was truly worth it. He wholeheartedly recommends it.
The FloatHouse River Kwai Resort Transportation
The wealthy family spent 400 baht to take a cage car from the train station to Phutakien Pier.
The FloatHouse River Kwai Resort is very unique. You have to take a shuttle boat from the pier to check in to the hotel. There is a shuttle boat about every hour, which the rich man thinks is a very special experience.

There will be staff at the counter at Phutakien Pier to confirm the reservation information, and if there is no problem, they will arrange the shuttle boat.

From the map you can see that many hotels on the River Kwai rely on Phutakien Pier to transport their guests.

It takes about 15 minutes by longtail boat from the pier to reach the hotel. Finally, I saw The FloatHouse River Kwai Resort!

The FloatHouse River Kwai Resort Room Discount
Hey, this time I followed The FloatHouse River Kwai Resort’s Facebook page and happened to come across a travel expo in Thailand, so I booked a package for one night and two meals.Floating VillaThe price is only 6,690 baht per night, but an extra bed for a child costs 1,800 baht, for a total of 8,490 baht. Compared to other booking sites, the price is about 30% cheaper. But be aware that reservations at The FloatHouse River Kwai Resort are non-cancellable, so plan carefully.

Free activity – River Kwai Rafting
The river rafting was incredibly thrilling, as you're literally floating directly on the River Kwai. Don't underestimate this; the current is incredibly fast. The hotel provides life jackets, so if you're not afraid of water, give them a try. We tried the "Millionaire" and "Little Millionaire" games several times, and it was truly thrilling, exciting, and fun.
The rafting game involves jumping directly into the River Kwai from the hotel counter area and drifting downstream. Once you reach the end of the hotel, you'll need to find a way to get ashore. But the tycoon thought the current was so strong that you'd need to swim hard to reach shore. I wonder if anyone has failed and ended up being swept downstream (laughs).
Attached is the video of the river drifting, which was filmed by the rich man from his room. You can see that the people floated across in an instant.
Optional activities
Water activities include half-day longtail boat tours, canoes, and SUP boards, while land activities include mountain biking, half-day national park tours, and full-day tours. However, the wealthy man felt that if he only stayed for a day, he wouldn't have much time, so he decided to enjoy the quiet and undisturbed environment.
The FloatHouse River Kwai Resort Unboxing
The semi-open-air hotel walkway will be slippery when it rains.

This time I stayed in room 8B.

There's a minibar right at the door, but unfortunately there's no such thing as a free lunch, so everything has to be charged. However, the glass bottle of water was free, which was a close call.

King-size bed. The room has air conditioning, and it's a Daikin. Mountain hotels are prone to small insects, so the hotel thoughtfully provided mosquito nets, so we didn't have to worry about being disturbed at night. The rich man thought the bed was beautiful.

The extra bed for the Little Rich Man was 1,800 baht and was quite comfortable.

The floor-to-ceiling window at the end of the bed leads to the balcony, so the lighting is very good and it is bright early in the morning.

Small table in the room.

The corridor inside the room.

Nightgowns and slippers are provided.

Disposable amenities are provided, such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, and shower caps.

The shower room and toilet are kept quite clean.

The balcony has two lounge chairs and a rocking chair. The best part is that it faces the River Kwai and a vast expanse of lush greenery, which is incredibly relaxing. You can even jump right into the River Kwai and swim, truly merging with nature. I lay there for a long time, truly enjoying the relaxing feeling. The starry sky at night is also stunning, and I even spotted a few fireflies.

The rich man saw this picture and decided to stay here for a night to try it out. Sure enough, he was not disappointed.

Restaurant breakfast
The restaurant is not far from the counter. Breakfast is a buffet.

Fried food, Thai soup, Thai porridge.

Western meals include French toast, sausages, bacon, ham, hash browns, etc.

Thai staple food, white rice, fried rice noodles, and coconut milk chicken.

A hearty fruit and lettuce salad. Thai fruits are also quite delicious.

Breakfast for a rich man.

Lunch
Since we were participating in the hotel's half-day national park tour, lunch was included in the itinerary. The lunch for two consisted of 5 courses. It included:
- Nanyang Satay Grilled Pork Skewers
- Sweet and Sour Fried Fish
- Seafood Lettuce
- Stir-fried green peppers and chicken
- Thai curry soup
The rich man thought the food tasted pretty good and finished the whole bowl of rice.

dinner
In the evening, when the lights are turned on, there is a different feeling, very peaceful.

Hey, the restaurant is lit up at night, which creates a special atmosphere.

Dinner was a set meal with 5 dishes. The dishes included:
- Stir-fried chicken with green peppers
- Fried shrimp cakes
- Fried fish
- stir-fried cabbage
- Sour shrimp soup
However, the tycoon noticed one issue: the rooftop fan. During dinner, since the fan was lower than the lights, it would flicker if there were lights near the seats, which made him uncomfortable. So, he decided to move to an outdoor seat where there were no lights, which resulted in a darker photo (laughs).

rich man experience
The FloatHouse River Kwai Resort is worthy of being selected as one of the top ten floating hotels in the world. From the hotel service staff to the river drifting experience, the wealthy family was very satisfied with their stay.
What impressed the rich man most was the lazy river. He was really scared when he experienced it for the first time.
The hotel is a bit far from Bangkok, so the drive takes 4 hours, or 8 hours round trip. But overall, it's really great, and I highly recommend it!
