The concept behind the stores is &quot;Exciting Book Stores.&quot; They first opened in Nagoya in 1986 and have a unique style. They now have over 350 branches across Japan, which is quite impressive. Village Vanguard stores are mostly located within department stores. For example, I&#039;ve seen the &quot;Rich Man&quot; store at AEON stores many times. But of course, Rich Man doesn&#039;t come to buy books, as he doesn&#039;t understand much (laughs).
